Following the 'false' claim, the NBA opens an investigation into James Harden and the 76ers

The ongoing conflict between James Harden and the 76ers has generated a lot of discussion in the NBA.

The NBA has opened an investigation into the events behind Harden's shocking public rebuke of 76ers president of basketball operations Daryl Morey as a "liar" on Monday.

The 76ers and James Harden are embroiled in a contract dispute. Just days after the 76ers reportedly stopped trade talks involving the 33-year-old star, Harden criticized Morey while addressing at a press conference for Adidas basketball in China on Monday.

In a video published by Shams Charania of The Athletic, Harden, who had previously asked for a trade out of Philadelphia in June, declared that Darryl Morey was a liar and that he would never be a part of an organization.

However, Harden has claimed in private that the 76ers' choice and assumption that he would begin the season with the team led to his remarks.

Ben Simmons was traded to the Nets during the 2021–2022 season, and Harden was acquired by the 76ers as part of the deal. Harden is dissatisfied that Philadelphia has not extended him a long-term max contract offer.
