Can lizards swim in the pool?

Are Lizards Swimmers? Lizards can swim, yes. Even though they are not terrific swimmers, they can swim. The

only lizard species that regularly inhabit water-surrounded environments (such as swamps, rivers, etc.)

are marine iguanas and species of water monitor. On rare occasions, other lizards will dive into the water to

avoid a predator. Can lizards breathe in the water? They may indeed survive for a long period beneath

water. Lizards are cold-blooded creatures with the capacity to regulate their body temperature in response

to their environment. When submerged under water, lizards take in enough oxygen via their skin and

mouth lining to allow them to survive there for several hours or days.
