Can vitamin C actually prevent a cold?
Whether vitamin C can aid in the prevention of the common cold has
been the subject of much discussion. While other research disputes this,
other studies show that vitamin C does help lessen the intensity of a
cold. The reality most likely lies somewhere in the middle. If you sense a
cold coming on, drinking some orange juice or eating a few berries won't hurt. It would be
worthwhile to try a vitamin C supplement that prevents disease as well. Just don't have high expectations.
