Do Fish Sleep?

Although a variety of fish appear to sleep, fish sleep is not the same as what we

often consider to be sleep. Researchers sometimes refer to fish sleep as rest since they

have not been able to assess the well-known brain wave patterns that define human

sleep and the sleep of many other animals in most fish. In contrast to humans, fish seem

to be more aware while they sleep, which may allow them more time to respond to

any possible hazards in their surroundings. Additionally, they physically slow down, leaving some fish to float still.
