How Many Hours a Day Do Dogs Sleep?

Dogs need a lot of sleep, much more than humans do. Dogs and other carnivores frequently sleep more than

herbivores do. Age is the factor that affects a dog's sleep routine the most and is thus the most

significant. There isn't much data, but one research found that pups sleep for at least 11 hours per day.

With an average of slightly under 11 hours, adult dogs appear to require between eight and 13.5 hours of

sleep every day. In contrast, most adult adults require seven to eight hours of sleep per night. Older dogs

have a tendency to sleep later in the morning and wake up less frequently throughout the night.
