How Much Onion Is Toxic to Cats

The most severe symptoms appear when more than 5 grams of onions per kilogram

of their body weight, or 0.5% of their body weight in kilograms, is consumed. However,

any amount of onion intake might induce stomach discomfort. Although less than

1 teaspoon of cooked onions have been observed to cause onion poisoning in cats, this is the

toxic dosage. The fact that onion powder is far more effective than an onion itself is something

crucial to keep in mind. As a result, cats may become poisoned by a little quantity of onion

powder. For comparison, 1 tablespoon of onion powder is equal to around half a pound (226 grams) of a medium onion.
