After moving in in 1984, the Monterey Bay Aquarium contributed to the revitalization of Cannery Row. The three-story-tall kelp exhibit in the aquarium is famous for being the first of its kind when it was built.

Sadly, it is now closed for a few months for repairs, but it should reopen in the spring of 2023 with all-new displays.
