These seven stores on the list that are well-known for being excellent locations to find great deals on groceries and provide a wonderful shopping experience.
Albertsons
The American West is where you’ll locate the majority of Albertsons stores. With a staggering 125 locations, California has the most locations of any state. Each of the states of Idaho, Nevada, and Montana has 30 or more Albertsons stores.
Publix
Florida was the location of the establishment of Publix during the Great Depression. George Jenkins, the company’s founder, made an early investment in his workers by establishing employee ownership of the business. As Publix grew, the emphasis on the needs of the employees did not change. Currently, Publix is the largest employee-owned business in the United States.
Amazon Fresh
More than a decade after Jeff Bezos created Amazon, Amazon Fresh launched in 2007—later than any other grocer on this list. Amazon Fresh began as a purely online purchasing service, adhering to the Amazon business model. In 2020, the business launched its first physical location in Woodland Hills, California.
The Fresh Market
The Fresh Market was established in 1982 by Ray and Beverly Berry, a husband and wife team from Greensboro, North Carolina. The two aimed to give the contemporary American grocery shop the warm, welcoming atmosphere of a European market. It was successful, as seen by the 159 locations The Fresh Market currently has in 22 states.
Piggly Wiggly
The South is where Piggly Wiggly operates primarily. In 1916, the chain was founded in Memphis, Tennessee. The origin of the store’s unique moniker is still unknown. Clarence Saunders, the company’s founder, typically avoided it. Later, he launched an automated store called the Keedoozle and a chain of stores called Clarence Saunders, the Sole Owner of My Name Stores. So it would seem reasonable to think Saunders just enjoyed unusual, memorable names.
Sprouts Farmers Market
Sprouts established in Chandler, Arizona, in 2002 with the intention of increasing American access to natural food. The son and grandson of Henry Boney, who maintained a fruit stand in California, founded the store. It now has locations in more than 20 states.
Save A Lot
A budget grocery store called Save A Lot specializes in offering high-quality, reasonably priced food. According to reports, Bill Moran, the store’s creator, sought to provide Americans with an alternative to big-box supermarkets. Moran supplied independent merchants with wholesale goods before opening his own food store.
